My 79-year-old conspiracy-minded pa just offed himself by catching COVID-19. Culturally, we do a terrible job of preparing people to face the end of their own life. It's coming at some point regardless. I try to focus on the highest quality of life between now and then, and on achieving something approaching wisdom if time remains. Covid is not a fun way to go. I agree we don't do any kind of job preparing people for death.
In hindsight, maybe he wished he took the vaccine instead. Hard to say, I cut off contact after they voted for Trump twice.
