Erica, another great one! My feelings about the future are pretty much the same as yours. It's sad to find some comfort in the fact that the future we will not see is too awful to contemplate. Now when I read another article about the Colorado River running dry, I just think "glad I won't be around to see it." I just keep hoping I outlive Trump.
You have a shot, My friend Angela who follows the online psychics tells me they say he won't live long enough to run. His number should have been up a while back with Covid and all.
I feel exactly the same way about the future. Something I remember hearing in the 1970s was Zero Population Growth. Clearly that idea never caught on. I don't have a DDD, but another thing I won't miss if it happens tomorrow is being cautious about COVID because I'm one of those pesky people with an immune deficiency. And since I'm no techno wizard, I sure won't miss trying to master technical glitches. I also won't miss the gas-powered leaf blower and all the people Joni warned us about who are paving paradise and cutting down all the live oaks.
The Big One here in Oregon, Hoping it waits until I won’t have a corporeal experience. Also, China taking over everything. What’s more, I will likely miss the first woman President. I’m still with her!
I am glad I won’t be here to see the UK’s and much of Europe’s history overrun by people with a very different one. I expect that this is the way of the world, history is full of examples, but I anticipate a terrible sense of loss which would leave me crippled with grief, something nobody needs to witness…..
I'm not up for the apocalypse, nor am I enjoying aging. Can scarcely get around as it is, and taking walks or hikes was always my favorite thing to do. I'll probably see the 2 elder grandchildren graduate high school which was my wish when they were born-- but since then, so many horrid and frightful and fearful things have happened that my interest in living a long time has diminished. The graduation ceremonies might do it for me.

Do you believe in the DDD? I hope you are able to find enjoyment in the time you have left.
I think we all have a DDD but we don't know what it is. We never know if we're in the book for another year. Thanks, you're a sweetheart
WOW ERICA, You hit all the notes, all the feelings, all the memories. and our current conditions.....A beautiful, heartfelt piece. Thank you!
Thanks so much Susie.
